Tottenham: Paratici 'meeting agents in Italy' over key signing at Hotspur Way
Tottenham are expected to spend the “bulk” of their transfer budget on bringing a new centre-back to Hotspur Way, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.
The north Londoners have already signed three players upon their return to the Champions League but they’re yet to bring in a defender despite the position being identified as key for Antonio Conte.
Despite a relatively quiet fortnight since they announced their latest signing, it’s been a promising start to the transfer window for Spurs, who’ve been uncharacteristically busy early on.
And Conte’s side have been shrewd in their business, even though they’ve been given a £150m cash injection to help improve the squad.
The first arrival saw Conte reunite with Ivan Perisic, who arrived on a free transfer from Inter Milan, less than 15 months after winning the Serie A title with the Italian at San Siro.
Spurs then filled their backup goalkeeper void by bringing in England international Fraser Forster, who’ll provide cover and competition for Hugo Lloris, for nothing.
Yves Bissouma would be the third arrival through the door when he signed for £25m from Brighton to bolster Conte’s midfield options.
But Tottenham are still in the market for a left-sided centre-back having been unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Alessandro Bastoni, while some of their other targets have moved to other clubs.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think it’s a centre-back they want because he wants to play with a back three with Djed Spence and Perisic might play as a left wing-back.
“So, I think the bulk of the cash will go on a central defender. We know that Fabio Paratici has been meeting various agents in Italy, so I would imagine it would be a centre-back from Serie A, possibly one of the names
