Tottenham could finally sign Eriksen replacement in £60m star at Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur could finally sign a replacement for Christian Eriksen if they were to bring in Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison next year, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Antonio Conte spent more than £150 million on new recruits during the summer but could soon make more big investments at Hotspur Way.

The 25-year-old has made a fast start to the Premier League season despite the Foxes languishing inside the relegation zone.

In eight top-flight appearances, he has scored five goals and provided two assists, no doubt catching the eye of potential suitors in the process.

After recently bagging twice and providing an assist in Leicester’s 4-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest, Gary Lineker described Maddison as ‘extraordinary’.

During the summer, Newcastle United pushed hard to sign him but saw a final offer of £50 million rejected, with Leicester slapping a £60 million price tag on their talisman.

The Magpies are set to move again for him during the January window, however, and are hoping his fee may have dropped in the time since.

Tottenham were also on the scene and understood to be ‘seriously considering’ a move for the one-cap England international.

Jones believes that Maddison has the necessary skills to finally fill the void left by Eriksen in the Tottenham squad.

Conte reportedly wanted to add a more creative presence to his midfield this summer and could finally get his wish in the shape of the Leicester ace.
