Tottenham could battle rivals in late move for £60m star at Hotspur Way
Tottenham are still “very interested” in signing Everton ace Anthony Gordon, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.
Spurs have been keen on the youngster since earlier in the transfer window and Brown reckons the north Londoners are one to watch in the race for the England Under-21 man.
Tottenham registered their interest in him back in June, with Sky Sports claiming they were plotting a double swoop for Richarlison and Gordon.
Of course, Richarlison ended up making the £60m move to N17, although they were told the 21-year-old isn’t for sale.
Chelsea have since entered the running and have seen two bids knocked back by Everton, who have insisted that they want to keep the winger and are planning to offer him a new contract.
The Blues have since upped the anti, though, and would be prepared to pay £60m for Gordon, with conversations between the two clubs ‘ongoing’.
But Football Insider believe that Tottenham are ‘submitting a bid’ for Gordon after ‘receiving encouragement’ that he’s keen on making the switch to the blue half of north London.
And while they face stiff competition for the highly-rated attacker, Brown reckons that Spurs could still be in the conversation in the final days of the market.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “Tottenham are one to watch on Gordon because they came in for him earlier in the window and they’re still very interested, so it would not surprise me if Spurs got into the mix before the end of the window.”
The London rivals are clearly keen on the youngster and would represent progressive moves in his career.
But at this current moment, with uncertainty over several of Chelsea’s wingers, signing for Thomas Tuchel’s side would surely give more chance of getting regular game-time.
