Tottenham: 36-cap star could make European debut vs Marseille at Hotspur Way

Tottenham star Richarlison has every chance of starting tonight’s Champions League opener against Marseille, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Antonio Conte’s side make their return to Europe’s elite competition when the French giants visit north London and Brown reckons that Richarlison is in line for another start.

The 36-cap Brazil international has made an positive impact since arriving from Everton, registering two assists in less than 170 minutes of Premier League action.

Richarlison’s most recent outing saw him make his full Spurs debut against Fulham, where he set up Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, struck the post and saw his late effort ruled out for offside in what proved an all-action first start for the club.

Dejan Kulusevski dropped out of the team to accommodate for Richarlison, but the Swede will be hoping to earn a recall for the Marseille game.

With Harry Kane almost nailed on to lead the line, Heung-Min Son could make way for Kulusevski, providing Richarlison keeps his place.

Brown reckons that Conte is clearly a big fan of the former Everton star and believes he might keep his place in the Champions League.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “There’s a bit of spikiness about him that Tottenham have sometimes lack and I think Conte really likes that.

“He’s someone who gets about people, always makes a nuisance of himself and makes really good runs and decisions in forward areas, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he started the game.”

With a trip to Manchester City to come less than 72 hours after this game, Conte is once again likely to utilise the squad after making five changes against Fulham.
