Tottenham: 36-cap star 'pushing really hard' to impress Conte at Hotspur Way

Tottenham forward Richarlison is not far away from establishing himself as a regular starter in Antonio Conte‘s team, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The 36-cap Brazil international marked his Champions League debut with his first Spurs goals against Marseille on Wednesday night and has made a promising start since his £60m switch from Everton.

Tottenham were making their return to Europe’s elite competition following a two season absence, but they were frustrated for long periods against a disciplined and well organised French outfit.

But Spurs were given a helping hand moments into the second half when Chancel Mbemba was sent off after bringing down Heung-Min Son when he was last man.

They wouldn’t make their man advantage count until the latter stages, though, when Richarlison took centre stage by heading home twice in the space of five minutes from pinpoint Ivan Perisic and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg crosses.

Richarlison has now registered two goals and two assists in just 257 minutes of action in a Tottenham shirt and is on the verge of gate-crashing a front three that looked unstoppable at times last season.

Dejan Kulusevski has been on the bench to accommodate for Richarlison’s starting place in the last two games, but Brown reckons the ex-Everton man being picked from the off could start to happen on a more regular basis if he keeps up his current form.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I do think Richarlison is pushing really hard for Spurs. It’s not going to be long before he’s in the starting line-up on a regular basis.

“Every time he’s come on he’s made a real difference and he already has a real understanding with Harry Kane.”

Son, Kulusevski and Kane caused City umpteen problems in Spurs’ 3-2 victory at the Etihad
