Tottenham: Conte could now miss out on 123 G/A star at Hotspur Way

Tottenham re-signing Christian Eriksen this summer appears to be a “non-starter”, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Spurs have been linked with the Denmark international ahead of his Brentford contract expiring next month, although Bridge has played down their chances of reuniting with the midfielder.

Having only signed a short-term contract at Brentford following his Inter Milan exit in December, the ex-Tottenham man could be on the market once again when the window reopens for business.

Thomas Frank, whose side finished 12th on their Premier League debut, are hoping to convince Eriksen to extend his stay in west London, although Spurs are firmly in the race for his signature and can now offer him Champions League football following their fourth place finish.

90min reported last month that Spurs are ‘confident‘ of signing the midfield maestro providing Antonio Conte remains at the club, which is looking increasingly likely, although the Telegraph believe that Tottenham are only ‘considering‘ a move for the 30-year-old, who has 123 goal contributions in his Premier League career.

But having spoken to Eriksen at Brentford’s end of season awards last week, Bridge reckons that the chances of Eriksen returning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium are slim.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “He kept Brentford up really, they were really dropping, people forget that, so if anyone says Eriksen has turned his back against Brentford.
