Tottenham: Conte could make 'massive signings' in £45m duo at Hotspur Way

Tottenham bringing in players for smaller fees like Djed Spence and Yves Bissouma is a “massive” for Antonio Conte, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The north Londoners have already made a trio of signings in Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic and Bissouma, and remain on course to sign Spence.

Having brought in Forster and Perisic on free transfers from Southampton and Inter Milan, Conte has funds available to invest in other areas in the squad.

But Tottenham, who were recently given a £150m injection, are not exactly flashing the cash, with deals for Spence and Bissouma cheaper options.

According to The Athletic, Spence favours a move to Tottenham and is expected to cost £20m, which is less than what they paid Barcelona for the services of Emerson Royal last summer.

Spurs have paid slightly more for Bissouma, who’s cost £25m plus add ons, with just one year remaining on his deal at Brighton.

Should Spence sign, too, Conte’s side would have spent less than £50m and will have already signed four of the six players the Spurs boss requested at the beginning of the window.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s exactly the kind of business that Spurs were trying to do this summer.

“I mentioned before they were looking at players whose contracts were running down and wouldn’t have to pay a big fee for, so to get that quality of player in for that money would be massive for them.”

However, that list didn’t include a left wing-back, which is where Perisic is expected to play, so Tottenham might end up adding more than six players
