Tonbridge Angels sign striker Frankie Baker from Millwall following impressive loan spell

Tonbridge have signed Millwall striker Frankie Baker - this time on a permanent deal.

Baker, 20, scored six goals in 24 appearances on loan at Longmead last season and worked as hard as any forward in National League South.

His performances impressed Angels boss Alan Dunne, who is thrilled to sign a player he previously tipped to play first-team football at the Den.

“I’m absolutely delighted that Frankie’s staying with us,” Dunne told Tonbridge’s media team.

“We were his only choice. He wanted to stay with us because he thoroughly enjoyed his time here and he feels like this is the club for him and I believe that, as a player, Frankie is only going to get better.

“I’m really pleased to have someone like Frankie who is young and hungry.

“He wants to learn and wants to get better and he has all the attributes to play at the top level and I’m really pleased he’s chosen us to help him with his development.”

Baker’s move to Tonbridge ends an 11-year association with Millwall, having joined the club aged nine.

He progressed through the age groups and was part of the under-18 side who reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals two years ago.

Baker said: “I’m very excited to be signing for Angels and starting this next chapter in my career.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to join such a hardworking team and I’m ready to give my absolute all on the pitch and contribute to the club’s success.

“I can’t wait to play in front of the fans again and score goals.”

Baker becomes Tonbridge’s second summer signing, following the arrival of goalkeeper Nathan Harness on Wednesday.
