Tonbridge Angels manager Alan Dunne aiming to make the most of a pre-match meal to get his team ready for National League South game at Bath City

Alan Dunne will use a pre-match meal at a hotel to prepare his Tonbridge players for tonight’s National League South game at Bath.

Angels make the long trip to Twerton Park on the back of a 1-0 home defeat by unbeaten league leaders Hornchurch on Saturday.

Boss Dunne hasn’t seen his squad since then, so the time at a hotel will be important to get his message across.

It worked to good effect before a 1-1 draw at Maidenhead at the end of last month and again last week as Angels won 2-1 at Maidstone.

“The games we’ve done well in are where I’ll get a hotel and have a pre-match with the boys,” said Dunne.

“We did it at Maidenhead, we did it at Maidstone, and the club have booked a hotel for Bath for a pre-match and I’ll get a room for analysis with the boys.

“It’s good of the club to do that, so we’ll have that.

“There’s no excuses, we’ll go there, we’ll have a game plan and the boys will give me their all.

“We just need to affect the keeper a little bit more and cut out the mistakes and we aren’t far off.”

Tonbridge have lost both home games since Sean Shields’ injury-time cracker at Maidstone.

Mistakes were punished in the 4-2 midweek defeat against Chelmsford and the narrow Hornchurch loss.

Dunne feels a lack of time on the training ground has contributed to the errors but overall knows his time are improving.

They’re 16th in the table, a point clear of Bath, who are 17th.

“We’ve been unlucky the last couple of games,” said Dunne.

“Saturday, I felt like we deserved a point and probably had the better chances, it was just a mistake on our part rather than a team breaking us down.

“I’m pleased with the efforts and pleased with the tactical side, it’s just some of the players make mistakes because you might only have one
