Tom Rogic's Celtic to West Brom switch has Hawthorns hero 'not so happy' due to Rangers allegiance

Tom Rogic's move from Celtic to West Brom has already been talked down by a Baggies legend - as he's jeered him for too long as a Rangers fan.

The Australian international ended a period of rumours and speculation ranging from retirement to Asia this summer by penning a contract with Steve Bruce's English Championship side. He will hope to get playing enough football to merit a place in Graham Arnold's Australia World Cup squad this winter and his debut could beckon in Saturday's match with Swansea City at The Hawthorns.

Scotsman Ally Robertson made over 600 appearances for the second tier side and insists it's not a transfer he's overly thrilled with, based purely on his support for Rangers on the other side of Glasgow. But he acknowledges how big an impact Rogic made in his nine trophy-laden years at Celtic and insists a form repeat at West Brom could be a boost for boss Bruce.

He wrote in the Express and Star: "New signing Tom Rogic spent so long at Celtic and could be ready to make a first appearance.

"I’m not so happy because I’m Rangers! But he’s come from Scottish football and can show what he can do.

"So many people have said what a great time he’s had and done well, hopefully he can do similar here. They loved him up there, they thought he was great and actually would’ve had him back!"
