Tom Brady hands new job to forgotten Manchester United coach who departed this summer

Former Manchester United midfielder - and Academy coach - Tom Huddlestone has been appointed as the new first-team assistant coach at League One side Birmingham City.

The West Midlands club are co-owned by NFL legend Tom Brady who had invited United greats David Beckham and Gary Neville to St. Andrew's on Monday night for the League One match between the Blues and Hollywood- owned Wrexham. Huddlestone joins the coaching staff with Birmingham after, previously, representing United as both a player and coach.

Huddlestone did not make a senior appearance for United as such, but helped the Academy players behind the scenes at Carrington before leaving in May this year as he called time on his career. Since departing Old Trafford, Huddlestone has taken a role in the England U21s set-up and shall be continuing that role while with Birmingham.

Explaining why Birmingham made the Huddlestone appointment, manager Chris Davies said: "Tom is an excellent coach and a great addition to our first team staff as we look to build on our start to the 2024/2025 season. He has vast playing experience, which has been added to by coaching roles he has held with club and international teams.

"This will provide a different dynamic to the group and I expect the squad to feed off his knowledge of the game. We are all looking forward to working with him and wish him every success at Birmingham City."
