Todd Cantwell in subtle Rangers title 56 nod as star roars 'let's fight for everything' ahead of big kick off

Todd Cantwell has vowed to “fight for everything” as he made a subtle nod to Rangers’ title 56 ahead of the new Scottish Premiership season kicking off.

The former Norwich City star was one of the few shining lights of last season when he arrived in January and enjoyed an impressive start to life at Ibrox, scoring six goals including in the 3-0 Old Firm derby win over Celtic.

He quickly became a real favourite of the fans who have been lapping up his latest message just days before the 2023/24 opener against Kilmarnock. Cantwell posted a picture on his Instagram page of him receiving instructions from Michael Beale on the touchline with “Let’s fight for everything” along the bottom. But observant supporters also spotted a tiny No.56 on the post – a reference to the much-coveted next league title for the club. If you look closely, you can see the digit on his shorts.

Cantwell spoke last season of his desire to help the Light Blues get back to winning ways after a trophyless campaign. He said: “We’ve got everything to play for next season and the hunger in the dressing room will be real. Playing for Rangers – you’ve got a big responsibility.”

The 25-year-old has never been far from controversy and copped some flak for denying Celtic star Reo Hatate a water bottle during the Scottish Cup semi-final clash at Hampden. And already during pre-season he has found himself at the centre of a dive storm after winning a penalty in the pre-season friendly against Olympiacos.
