Tim Dieng, Alex MacDonald and Hakeeb Adelakun among the 40 unsigned players joining the PFA for pre-season training

Several former Gillingham players have joined up with the PFA for pre-season training this week.

Members of the Professional Football Association who are free agents can take advantage of pre-season training alongside other players who have found themselves without a club.

A PFA side have already played Worksop Town in a friendly and have games against Port Vale and Watford under-21s coming up.

It’s a chance for unsigned players to impress as they look to find a new club. Forty players have joined up with the PFA for their latest training camp, which is based at Champneys Springs Hotel and Spa in Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

Tim Dieng is among the players hoping to find a new club with the help of the PFA.

Dieng, 33, was released by the Gills at the end of last season, first joining for an undisclosed fee from Exeter City, signed just after the Galinson takeover as the club spent their way out of trouble after starting 2023 bottom of League 2.

Dieng played 66 league games for the Gills but played the second half of last season on loan at Cheltenham Town.

Former Gills midfielder Alex MacDonald is among the 40 free agents attending the PFA camp.

40 free agents are joining us for PFA pre-season this week.
