Chatham Town manager Kevin Hake reflects on a 1-0 win over Bromley, highlighting growing momentum and focus ahead of their final pre-season fixture against Chertsey Town at the Bauvill Stadium
Chatham Town boss Kevin Hake says his side are building momentum at just the right time.
They head into their final pre-season fixture this Saturday against Southern League Premier side Chertsey Town.
The Chats edged out a young but lively Bromley side on Tuesday night, sealing a 1-0 win and keeping a clean sheet in the process.
Reflecting on their midweek performance, Hake said: “Tuesday night against Bromley was another really valuable exercise for us.
“Even though they brought a young side, they were sharp, fit, and technically very good, so to keep a clean sheet and win 1-0 was really pleasing.”
Chatham won the game thanks to a late goal from one of their tralists.
With the new season fast approaching, the Chatham manager is pleased with the progress being made both on and off the ball.
“What I liked most was our attitude,” he added.
“We’re less than two weeks from the start of the season, and the lads are showing the right focus and work ethic.
“We’ve built some good momentum through pre-season, but we know the real work starts soon.”
Chatham wrap up their pre-season campaign on Saturday when they host Chertsey Town at the Bauvill Stadium – a final chance to fine-tune before the competitive action begins.
“It’s another good test for us and a chance to put the finishing touches to our preparations in front of our own supporters,” Hake said.
“Hopefully we can finish pre-season strong and give everyone another taste of what this Chatham team is about before the season kicks off.”
