'TikTok lawyer' representing family involved in Manchester Airport police incident 'steps aside'
The solicitor representing the family involved in the Manchester Airport police incident has announced he is 'stepping aside' in a new social media video.
Akhmed Yakoob was supporting those involved and has frequently spoken to the media after video footage first emerged of a man being kicked in the head during an arrest at the airport last Tuesday (July 23).
And on Saturday (July 27), the Manchester Evening News obtained exclusive new footage which was believed to capture the lead-up to the incident that has sparked controversy and protests.

The previously shared footage appeared to show the officer kicking and stamping on a man's head as he lay on the ground.
Yakoob, a solicitor from Birmingham with nearly 210,000 followers on TikTok, who was said to be representing the family and has repeatedly spoken to the media on their behalf, has now announced he is 'stepping aside' and has 'recommended a lawyer' for the family involved.
"The media have tried to sabotage me, it's not the first time they've done this," he said in the clip. "They've made this whole situation about me and not police misconduct.
"So, after consulting with the family, I have decided for now to step aside and I have recommended the family to a lawyer. But, I will be keeping a close eye on this.
"I'd like to say that I am not for violence, whether it's from police officers or whether it's from civilians. Always remember that."
It comes after new footage emerged capturing the chaotic scenes before the arrest, which involved two men and several police officers inside a car park at Terminal 2 on Tuesday (July 23).
