Three ways Manchester United could line up vs Wolves in Premier League opener

It’s that time of the year again when football fans are excited for the start of the new season. More so in the case of Manchester United fans as their club is about to complete the third major signing of the summer in Rasmus Hojlund.

For all the flak the board and the club’s recruiting department have received, the transfer activity this summer has been effective. United knew exactly the positions that needed to be strengthened and identified their targets for these positions. Tough decisions have been made like moving on from David de Gea and stripping Harry Maguire of captaincy.

Two major signings have been completed and the third one is near completion. Erik ten Hag was in desperate need of a goalkeeper who could comfortably play out from the back. The club went after Andre Onana of Inter Milan and managed to bring him on board. The midfield was also in need of reinforcement after a poor loan spell from Marcel Sabitzer. In comes Mason Mount from Premier League rival Chelsea.

The third signing on the horizon is 20-year-old Rasmus Hojlund. The Danish striker is one of the most sought-after youngsters in European football and United have potentially secured their starting forward for the next decade or so.

Amongst all of this has been the pre-season performances and results. Erik ten Hag and co. would hardly be pleased with their results this preseason after losses to the likes of Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham. They shipped eight goals in these three games while scoring just three. But pre-season form hardly provides an indication of how the season is going to develop.
