Three arrested following major Tameside raid

Three people were arrested during a raid that saw police seize large amounts of cocaine and cannabis in Tameside. The raids were carried out at addresses on Cowhill Lane in Ashton-under-Lyne this morning (October 14).

A 53-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs. A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs, and a 35-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of child neglect.

All three suspects remain in police custody awaiting to be questioned. Police carried out the operation following the community's complaints of drug dealing and anti-social behaviour in the area.

In total, police seized large quantities of cocaine and cannabis from the properties. Work was done to safeguarded a young child and police are in contact with their partners after concerns were raised about the living conditions and state of the property the child was living in.

Police Constable Hutcheson, from Tameside’s neighbourhood policing team said: “The positive action this morning is a direct result of our communities talking to us. After several weeks of proactive patrols and speaking with residents, we were able to identify these individuals and take positive action, putting another dent into the organised criminality and destructive drugs trade which is impacting our residents.

“We are unrelenting in our pursuit of organised criminals, and we will continue to act swiftly on intelligence we receive and proactively pursue offenders.”
