Village reeling after teenager stabbed and slashed in neck, chest and back before six children arrested

A village is in shock following a brutal attack on a 13-year-old girl. The teenager was stabbed and slashed in her neck, chest, back and abdomen, before being found close to death by the side of the road.

Six children aged between the ages of 14 and 17 have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The girl was found with 'life-threatening' injuries next to the A63 near North Ferriby and Hessle, Yorkshire Live reports.

Humberside Police were called to a wooded area at 6.50am on Friday (November 1) after the girl was found fighting for life. She currently remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Four boys, aged 14, 15, 16, 17; and two girls aged 14 and 15 were later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They were all in custody on Saturday afternoon.

Taking to the Humberside Police Facebook page, local Maria Tindall said: "How awful. I can't imagine how the poor girl and her family are feeling."

Helen Stephanie Dixon wrote: "This is absolutely devastating to read. Praying this young girl pulls through." Emily Roberts responded: "Thinking and praying for this young girl and her family today. Hoping she survives and makes a full recovery."

John Francis posted: "This is sickening to read." Amy Taylor penned: "Absolutely horrific. Poor, poor girl."

Detective Superintendent Simon Vickers said: "I understand this incident will rightly cause concerns amongst the community and I would like to offer my assurances that as a part of our initial investigation we have six individuals in custody who are all being questioned by detectives."
