Thomas Tuchel breaks silence on Manchester United's transfer interest in Christian Pulisic

Thomas Tuchel has explained Chelsea do not have enough players to allow Christian Pulisic to leave the club.

There are under two weeks remaining in the summer transfer window and Manchester United have not strengthened their attacking options. Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial remain the only recognised centre-forwards in Erik ten Hag's squad.

United are set to sign midfielder Casemiro from Real Madrid, but their search for attacking reinforcements continues. United have been linked with various attacking players this summer and right-winger Pulisic has been on the club's radar.

Pulisic is understood to be frustrated at his lack of game time and the player had been linked with a loan move to Old Trafford. Tuchel was asked about the mounting speculation around Pulisic on Friday and he outlined Chelsea's stance on his future.

Tuchel explained that Chelsea have a busy schedule this season, which makes any departures from the club unlikely.

"Yeah, I know there is a lot of talk," Tuchel said when asked about Pulisic. "We will not comment on our players and we will not encourage our players to go out in this moment. We've had two training sessions with 18 players.

"In a schedule when we play once a week, this is not a problem. If I look at the schedule that is coming, with Southampton and during the week two Champions League matches, it's coming, it's right in front of the door and we need a lot of players.

"We need a lot of quality players to be competitive, so at the moment, we have what we have."
