Thomas Galdames transfer demand as Rangers target calls for move NOW in firm message to Godoy Cruz

Defender Thomas Galdames insists he wants to leave Godoy Cruz NOW as he inches closer to signing for Rangers.

Philippe Clement has already tapped into the market in South America this summer to bring Jefte to the club and Chilean defender Galdames has been linked with a move to Ibrox after impressing in Argentina. Amid talk of a switch to Ibrox he appeared to say an emotional farewell to fans following the 4-0 cup win over El Povenier. However, Godoy Cruz vice president Juan Mansur appeared to throw out a quick-fire timeline following the full-time whistle as he insisted there was plenty of work to be done before the 25-year-old is allowed to leave the club.

But having been called up for the Copa America - with Chile set to kick-off their group stage campaign on June 22 against Peru - Galdames doesn't seem to want to wait around amid interest from Scottish Premiership. Galdames - who is approaching the final six months of his contract - told Cooperativa Deportes: "I have a contract in Godoy Cruz until December and my idea is that they sell me now. I hope that is the same idea as the club.

"My representative is working on that, but these are not issues that concern me and I focus only on the games. I know that, going to Europe in a competitive league, rather than staying here in South America, will mean I continue to grow. My career has been very progressive, especially upwards. Today the market opened so I hope we will have news."
