Harry Kewell sees post Celtic struggles boil over as Yokohama boss told behaviour 'goes against Japanese culture'

Former Celtic coach Harry Kewell's "behaviour is attracting a lot of unwanted attention" after the Australian confronted officials in a stormy post match bust-up as his J-League struggles with Yokohama F. Marinos continued.

The 45-year-old moved to Parkhead under former boss Ange Postecolgou and continued to work under Brendan Rodgers before leaving mid-season to go out on his own again and follow in the footsteps of Postecoglou in the Far East, succeeding ex Rangers defender and Ibrox managerial candidate Kevin Muscat at J-League outfit Yokohama.

Kewell was on course to outdo his compatriots when he guided Marinos to the Asian Champions League final but his dream came to a crushing end when they were thrashed 5-1 by UAE outfit Al-Ain, managed by Argentina strike legend Hernan Crespo, in Abu Dhabi to complete a 6-3 aggregate defeat. Kewell said after the match that his side "got robbed by a bad referee," adding: "I thought the refereeing decisions were shocking, they were terrible. They were playing the game and he fell for it."

And after suffering a 3-2 loss to Kashima Antlers on Saturday, Kewell again vented his fury at the men in black and was booked. One report said his action: "Goes against Japanese culture," adding: "Not the first time Kewell has taken aim at officials. Kewell also accused referees of cheating in loss to Nagoya. Kewell screamed at fourth official: 'You're a cheat, you're cheating."

Yokohama Marinos have won just once in their last eight J-League games and currently languish in 13th place in the 20-team table having finished in second place last year under Muscat before he left to take over at Chinese Super League club Shanghai Port.
