"They pinpointed..." - Sky Sports reporter drops exciting Liverpool claim involving teenage star

Liverpool have identified Aberdeen’s Calvin Ramsay as “someone for the future”, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, as they close in on signing the full-back.

The Reds have shown an interest in the teenager in recent weeks, and he is now on the verge of moving to Anfield.

As reported by The Times, Liverpool have reached an agreement with Aberdeen for the 18-year-old defender, which will see Ramsay move to Merseyside for £4m.

There is also the potential for Aberdeen to receive a further £2.5m in add-ons, depending on the number of appearances that Ramsay goes on to make, and how involved he is in Liverpool’s success.

Ramsay would become Liverpool’s third signing of the summer, following on from Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho arriving at the club.

Ramsay looks to be a very bright prospect, having registered five assists in the Scottish Premiership last term, and Sheth expects him to come in and challenge Trent Alexander-Arnold for the right-back berth at Liverpool at some point in the future.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Calvin Ramsay is the one that they pinpointed from Aberdeen. At 18 years old, Liverpool have cited Ramsay as someone for the future, and maybe provide competition for Trent Alexander-Arnold in that right-back position.”

Alexander-Arnold is widely regarded as one of the finest right-backs on the planet right now, having won every major trophy there is to win with Liverpool over the last three years.

His record of 62 assists in 226 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s men is remarkable considering he is a full-back.

Still, Ramsay impressed in his maiden full season in the first-team at Aberdeen in 2021/22, and was not overawed at all
