‘They confirmed to me’ - Journalist makes Spurs transfer claim involving ‘world class’ forward

Taking to Twitter, Italian reporter Giacomo Iacobellis has made a Tottenham Hotspur transfer claim involving Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.

The Catalans forward, out of contract later this year, will leave the Camp Nou as a free agent this summer as things stand.

Signed for an initial £96.8m, Barca appear resigned to losing Dembele for nothing with Spurs apparently having been offered the chance to sign him in January.

Alasdair Gold says the France international was put on the table for Tottenham with Iacobellis now sharing what he knows.

According to the Italian journalist, taking to social media, Spurs and Paris-Saint Germain ‘showed the most interest’ in signing him with the player also liking both Chelsea and Man United from the Premier League.

However, he has ‘nothing’ signed with any of these sides and remains focused on seeing the season out with Barca.

“From what they confirmed to me, the two clubs that showed the most interest in Dembele in January were PSG and Tottenham.” he explained.

“Ousmane also likes Chelsea FC and Manchester United, but he has nothing signed with anyone. His priority today is to play and help the FC Barcelona.”

Should Spurs decide to reignite their interest in Dembele, his potential signing for Antonio Conte comes with pro and cons even if they could seal him for nothing.

The 27-cap star, called ‘world class’ by ex-Liverpool defender Jose Enrique, has proven quality at the top level – having netted 54 goals whilst assisting 53 others in all competitions since making his senior debut (Transfermarkt).
