'The worst thing you can say' - Marcus Rashford handed unwanted Manchester United comparison
Jamie Carragher insists Marcus Rashford's performance against Newcastle was 'unacceptable' and likened his commitment to that of the much-maligned Anthony Martial.
Manchester United suffered their 10th defeat of the season at St James' Park on Saturday, Anthony Gordon's second-half tap in the only goal of a 1-0 home win. Newcastle could have won far more comfortably and Erik ten Hag's side were poor away from home once again.
Rashford and Martial were the source of much frustration, with the pair showing little effort to close down Magpies defenders as they stepped into midfield. Ten Hag was visibly frustrated with both at points during the game and hooked them on the hour mark.

“It was an unacceptable performance, for a few reasons,” Carragher told Sky Sports of Rashford. “He didn’t play midweek, and if there’s any mitigating circumstances for someone not being 100%, it’s playing midweek in Europe.
“I’ve been a local player and it isn’t easy, especially when your team is not doing well. When it’s not going well, it’s your job to fix it and you’ve got to drag other people up with you.
“I’m watching Rashford now and he reminds me of [Anthony] Martial, and that’s the worst possible thing you can probably say about him - a foreign player who comes in, hasn't done the business and doesn’t really care. Marcus Rashford is now looking like Anthony Martial.
“As a local lad, if your confidence is down and you’re not getting goals or assists, it's not a problem. But you do not stop running for that badge, that shirt and those supporters. Because you’re supposedly one of
