'The team is alive': Pep Guardiola delivers Liverpool FC warning after Man City win

Pep Guardiola says Manchester City are showing the spirit needed to go the distance again in the Premier League as they chase a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

City squandered a lead at St James Park as goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon gave Newcastle a 2-1 lead to take into the second half, but Kevin De Bruyne and Oscar Bobb came off the bench to seal an impressive comeback for the champions. The club have now come from behind to win their last three away games in the league, becoming just the fourth side to do that in the history of the competition.

Guardiola's side are chasing more history as they bid to become the first team to win four consecutive titles. Three points in the north-east takes them to within two points of leaders Liverpool, and while the Merseyside club are 'flying' the City manager is more than happy with what he is seeing from his players.

"I think everybody agrees we made a really good performance today, we played at St James' Park against such a physical team in Newcastle," said Guardiola. "They made transitions, we conceded two goals when their keeper made two saves, like Liverpool. After, talent made the difference.

"But what would have been the opinion today if we did not win? It's a business I know but as a manager what can I say about the performance? I said that to the players at half time: you are amazing and stick together and we will do it.
