What Oscar Bobb said to Kevin De Bruyne as Man City star reveals Pep Guardiola message

Oscar Bobb has revealed he thanked Kevin De Bruyne after the Norwegian starlet scored his first Premier League goal in their dramatic 3-2 win over Newcastle United.

The 20-year-old also described how Pep Guardiola told him to "go on and score" ahead of his introduction, as City chased the game late on. The Premier League champions had to show their mettle against Eddie Howe's side - after taking the lead through Bernardo Silva, they soon found themselves behind after quickfire goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

De Bruyne made his much-anticipated return to first-team action following five months out after undergoing hamstring surgery. And the Belgian illustrated his importance to Guardiola's side as he marked his comeback with a goal and an assist for Bobb, who expertly beat Martin Dubravka in second-half stoppage time to secure the points.

It was Bobb's second goal for the first-team, and first in the Premier League following his goal in the win over Red Star Belgrade in December.

It took just eight minutes for the Norwegian youngster to make an impact after being introduced as a late substitute. His winning goal reduced City's deficit behind Premier League leaders Liverpool to just two points.

"It's an amazing feeling, just watching from the side it was a really intense match. When I was called to come on, the manager told me to go on and score and thankfully I could," he said.
