The Sixth Commandment: Who was Ann Moore-Martin and what happened to her?

The BBC is showing a new TV drama that tells the story of a complex and harrowing true crime. The Sixth Commandment stars Timothy Spall and Anne Reid, who lead the cast as Peter Farquhar and Ann Moore-Martin, two pensioners who were targeted by twisted Benjamin Field in a sinister plot.

Suspicions around Field's relationship with Ann led to the discovery that he had murdered former Manchester Grammar School teacher Peter, triggering a murder investigation that led to Field being jailed for life in 2019.

The BBC says: "The Sixth Commandment explores the way in which both Peter and Ann were manipulated by Field, capturing the extreme gaslighting, the gripping police investigation and the high-profile trial. While poignantly highlighting the devastating effect of isolation and loneliness, as Field closed in on them, it also celebrates both Peter and Ann’s lives as cherished mentors, much loved relatives and adored friends."
