The Salford friends with a ridiculous plan

A group of men are set to complete a 24 hour Snowdon challenge this weekend, with the aim to travel the same distance as Mount Everest.

The challenge will see the group scale the mountain as many times as they can within a 24-hour period. The five men, Steven, Marc, Danny, Joe, and Tom, will be running through day and night in honour of raising money for the Salford Women’s Centre.

The centre has been open since the early 1980’s, it offers women the opportunity to find a safe space, and allow them to find shelter with the mission statement is for the health and well-being of all women who live or work in Salford.

A history of marathons, he seemed very optimistic about the challenge, speaking about the preparation: “We've been mainly training up on the SW Pennine Moors up at Bolton. I ran the Manchester Marathon earlier this year, all the other lads have done the same.”

Despite all the preparations he spoke about the dangers of the challenge, he said: “If you ever run fast down the side of a hill or a mountain, it's a pretty scary experience, but it's such a new thing for all of us.”

Steven, who has been involved with the centre for 10 years, spoke about the importance of the fundraiser: “With the cost of living crisis, the demand has massively increased because of a lot of the services.

“A lot of the public services that these women and children were able
