The Rock WWE return: New report gives big indication Dwayne Johnson could come back

Dwayne ‘The Rock‘ Johnson could very well be returning to WWE for one final run in 2023.

Reports have stated for a number of years now that WWE is hoping to have a match between The Rock, and his real-life cousin, Roman Reigns.

The match didn’t happen in 2021, and looks unlikely to happen during the remainder of 2022, but it seems like it could take place in 2023.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that, for the first quarter of 2023, The Rock has no movie commitments.

What’s the significance of that? Well, also in Q1 of 2023 is WrestleMania 39, the show that WWE wants Rock v Roman to take place.

Of course, this is no confirmation that The Rock is going to be returning to WWE next year and will 100% be facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.

However, The Rock being able to come back to WWE would very much depend on his movie schedule, so the fact he has nothing planned for the first few months of 2023 is a good sign.

Based on how famous The Rock is, being one of the most recognisable names on the planet, it’s not surprising that WWE wants him back for a feud with their biggest star.

Also, given how Roman’s character is all about being the head and provider for the Anoa’i family, a feud with The Rock does make a lot of sense.

Again, it’s worth stressing that this is not concrete evidence that The Rock is coming back to WWE next year, but the fact he has no movie commitments is definitely a good sign.
