'The most important thing' - Marcus Rashford's message to Man United squad ahead of FA Cup final

Marcus Rashford is hoping to protect Manchester United's record of being the only team in England to have ever won the treble ahead of Saturday's FA Cup final with Manchester City.

City travel to Wembley Stadium this weekend a third of the way towards the historic achievement after lifting the Premier League trophy this month. Hoping to stop them going any further are United who have already won one domestic cup at Wembley this season.

Rashford scored in February as the Reds beat Newcastle United to win the Carabao Cup and the forward is hoping to have a similar impact at the Wembley showpiece. Speaking at United's end-of-season awards night, the 25-year-old said: "Ensuring Man United remain the only English club to do the treble? That’s the most important thing."

United's leading goalscorer won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and Player's Player of the Year award on Monday night and Rashford added how much it meant for him to be recognised. "It’s obviously a proud moment," he explained.

"I feel I should have scored a few more, but, you know, there’s always room for improvement. That’s what I’ve been looking to do for next season.

"I’m pleased with how it went, but I’m looking forward to improving and hopefully getting better numbers in that next season."
