Martin Lewis' 'golden rule' for anybody with a Clubcard as Tesco issues 48-hour warning

Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has issued his 'golden rule' to anybody with a Tesco Clubcard. It comes after Tesco issued a 48-hour warning to all card holders.

Earlier this week the supermarket giant warned that £15million-worth of Tesco Clubcard vouchers will become invalid after today (May 31). Today is the last chance to use them up for many.

However, Martin Lewis has issued a piece of advice to bypass this. He says his 'golden rule' can both prolong the vouchers, as well as triple their value.

Clubcard holders earn one point for each £1 spent at Tesco and every point is then worth a penny in vouchers and you receive these every three months with your Clubcard statement. The vouchers set to expire on Wednesday were first issued in May 2021 - under the current rules you have two years to spend your Clubcard points once your voucher has been issued.

The Money Saving Expert shared his handy tip whilst presenting Good Morning Britain last week which would not only extend the time you can use the points but triple their value too. He told viewers: "Go online and check, or on the app, and check whether you have any of these vouchers, it will tell you if you have any unused vouchers.

"It's worth noting that currently, you can trade in a £5 voucher for three times the value - £15 worth - on things like Pizza Express or Legoland. From June 14 they're going to be double, but if you trade them in now, it's valid for a year."
