The Manchester club night you have to pay if you want to get out
A new club night in Manchester is free to all who enter - but there's a catch. Anyone visiting 'Aux Chord' will have to stump up cold, hard cash if they want to go home.
The unusual concept takes form at the Mint Lounge on Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter. It began in October and is held on the third Saturday of every month.
Punters will be allowed to pay as much or as little as they want depending on how much fun they had. The night is set up by events company Strategy and features an eclectic soundtrack with DJs playing music from drastically different genres like soft rock, grime, indie pop or grimy New York based hip hop.

The night was created to give clubbers a space to have "a dance and a buzz". According to its organisers: "In Manchester there are D&B nights, disco nights, techno nights, garage nights etc etc much every genre you can think of.
"But where are the party nights? Somewhere that’s just about top music and vibes. That’s what this is. Any music, any time, no rules.
"You might hear some Jimi Hendrix, you might hear some Skepta, you might hear some Westside Gunn, you might hear some John Coltrane.
"I don’t even know myself but you see what I’m sayin'. It’s all gonna be related to our thing somehow but the main aim is to come have a dance and a buzz. That’s literally it."
During the night, punters will also get the chance to play DJ when requests are taken and the best suggestions will be played. More information about Aux Chord can be found here.
