The huge new adventure playbarn hailed 'absolutely mindblowing' 90 minutes from Manchester

This is the extraordinary new playbarn that parents have hailed "absolutely mindblowing" that has opened around 90 minutes from Manchester. Hockerhill in Staffordshire is billed as a "vibrant space for small kids to dream big, big kids to run wild and busy adults to kick back, reconnect, catch up."

The all-weather indoor adventure playground features a great oak at its heart, with slides, swings, towers, bridges, walkways and tunnels all around it. It has been designed as a "multi-layered world for kids to jump into, shape and explore".

Meanwhile outside there's more play equipment for sunnier days, with zip wires, slides, rope bridges and climbing platforms. Hockerhill first opened in March, and has already been winning a big thumbs up from parents who have visited.

The playbarn has been newly created in a former agricultural building on the historic Chillington Hall Estate, which is just off the M6 near Stafford. The estate is also close to Boscobel House which has a unique place in history as the estate where King Charles II took refuge in the 17th century - hiding in an oak tree here for two days.

The tree became known as the "Royal Oak" which is why hundreds of pubs now take that name. And the Great Oak at the heart of the playbarn is also a nod to that history too.

The barn itself is clad in timber from the Chillington Estate, and the play equipment has been made from sustainably-sourced wood. The Hall has been home to the Giffard family for the past 850 years.
