The exact time the SPFL January transfer window shuts as clock to strike before midnight

The wheeling and dealing has hit top gear as clubs up and down the SPFL pyramid look to get signings over the line.

Celtic and Rangers are no different with the Glasgow rivals looking to strengthen their ranks for the second half of the season in their title tussle. Brendan Rodgers has added £3million signing Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna and he is looking to add further reinforcements with a striker and left-back priority positions. Across the city, Philippe Clement has snapped up Fabio Silva on loan with Mohamed Diomande set to arrive from Nordsjaelland in a big money deal imminently.

Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen and the rest of the top flight and beyond are continuing to scout the globe in the hunt for new additions while they are also bidding to retain their own star players. With deadline day just over a week away Record Sport can reveal the exact time the January window will officially slam shut for business and it is a bit of a change from the traditional midnight.

We can confirm that clubs in Scotland will have until 11.30pm on Thursday, February 1. That is now just a 30 minute difference to England with the last orders at 11pm south of the border.

Traditionally that last hour has been a good chance for clubs in Scotland to get last minute deals signed off due to the clubs in England being unable to sign players when the window ends for them. That will remain the case this time around, however the turnaround time will need to be even quicker than usual.
