The Dundee and Rangers game faces a THIRD pitch inspection as ref Don Robertson fears worst

Referee Don Robertson says Dens Park is playable - but admits that could change later this afternoon with a second pitch inspection looming.

And with a 3.30pm look at the park planned, the whistler admits a FURTHER inspection may be required amid weather warnings for the Tayside area - plunging Rangers' visit to Dundee into further jeopardy. Robertson was on hand to take a first look at the surface at 11.30am as he deemed the pitch playable with the countdown to kick-off on as Philippe Clement looks to take his side top of the table.

However, with The Dark Blues already having four games called off this season on their home patch and with the Met Office predicting heavy downpours, the whistler has conceded he has concerns over certain areas of the pitch going into the Scottish Premiership clash. Ref Robertson told Sky Sports News: "I've inspected the pitch at 11am. The pitch is playable at the moment. I was asked by the league to come up this morning and conduct that inspection.

"Obviously, there have been some issues with the pitch recently. I wanted to come up early and have an early sight of the pitch. At the moment, it's playable. I'm quite comfortable that the pitch is playable and safe for the players to play.

"All areas of the pitch including areas where there were concerns a couple of weeks ago when the match was postponed and subsequently. That's the situation just now as we stand. Everyone is aware of the weather forecast for the area this afternoon."

Asked if there is concerns over areas of the pitch in the worsening conditions, Robertson said: "I think so. I think everyone is already aware if the issues Dundee have had with their pitch, certainly recently. There are a couple of areas that as I see it right
