Celtic survive 'stonewall' Aberdeen penalty call as Don Robertson denial has pundits baffled
Confusion reigned at Hampden as Aberdeen were denied what looked a stonewall penalty in extra-time.
Cameron Carter-Vickers went to make a clearance in his own box under pressure, and only succeeded in booting the back of Junior Hoilett's leg leg. As the celebrating Dandies behind the goal thought they'd been handed a route back into the Scottish Cup semi-final, their hopes were dashed as ref Don Robertson awarded a foul AGAINST Hoilett for a foul on compatriot Alistair Johnston in the build up.
A VAR check was made, but decided no penalty as the foul on Celtic's Canadian full-back was confirmed. It looked soft, but there was more drama to come as Angus MacDonald made up for his first half howler by heading the Dons level just as it seemed they were running out of time. That's astonishing, it really is. It's a penalty. I think the officials have let them down on that one.
"Don Robertson has warded a foul to the defending team I don't know why he's allowed the game to continue if he feels that is a free-kick."
"For me, it's a penalty. Hoilett does nothing really. The game plays on, he's not blown the whistle for it. Hoilett then stretches for it and
