Celtic are close to agreeing an extension for Reo Hatate which would come hot on the heels of Anthony Ralston signing a new contract at the Treble winners - and make the Japan star the seventh Parkhead player to put pen to paper on an extension since Brendan Rodgers returned to the club.

The Irishman has wasted no time in assessing his squad and making sure he tied down the most valuable assets while the likes of Jota and Carl Starfelt headed for the exit along with former boss Ange Postecoglou. Hatate's fellow midfielder Matt O'Riley has been an early season standout and is also said to be in talks over a new contract which would delight the Celtic fans.
