Stirling Albion boss Darren Young urges his side to be more ruthless after Montrose defeat
It was a third straight away defeat on the spin for Stirling Albion on Saturday in Montrose – but boss Darren Young insists his side will keep their chins up.
The Binos turned in a much improved display at Links Park against their in-form hosts and had opportunities to take the lead themselves before Kane Hester notched a 74th minute winner.
It follows bruising defeats on the road to both Falkirk and Annan already in this campaign, but a strong start and good home form means the Binos still sit in a good position in fourth place.
Young insists his troops deserved something from the match in Angus and said there were positive signs to be taken from the performance.
The Stirling manager said: “There was nothing in the game and I felt a draw would have been a fair result to be honest.
“They get their chance, the boy goes through four tackles, it falls to someone else and they score.
“It’s frustrating because we felt we more than deserved the point and there were opportunities on both sides, but they defended their box really well and got their blocks and tackles in.
“The lads are finding out about that wee bit of extra quality and pace you get in the league above, but we’re not going to get too high or too low.
“From our point of view, we felt we more than matched them and with a wee bit of luck ourselves, then we could have won the game.
“We take every game as it comes, the worry for us would be if we weren’t creating chances, but we did that today – maybe we didn’t test the keeper enough.
“It was a frustrating afternoon where we just couldn’t get on the end of one, it is what it is and you have to be ruthless in this league which we weren’t.”
