'Tarnished my view of him' - Simon Jordan criticism of Chris Wilder after Sheffield United struggle

Following Sean Dyche's sacking as Burnley manager last Friday, there has been speculation about who the Clarets would bring in to try and dig them out of relegation danger. Despite only joining Middlesbrough earlier this season, Sheffield United legend Chris Wilder has been mooted as one of the options.

Former Crystal Palace chairman, Simon Jordan has spoken against Wilder as a candidate for the job though. Jordan stated that he had been a fan of the Sheffield native until things had turned badly in his second Premier League season with the Blades.

Speaking on TalkSport, Jordan said: "I was an admirer of his when he took them ( Sheffield United ) from League One into the Premier League and managed well. And I loved his attitude and his disposition.

"But then I watched him when times got tough. I watched him when he started to read his own press, about what he had done for Sheffield United the previous year and what sort of manager he was. It’s really tarnished my view of him because I thought he was something different."

The Clarets have won only four games all season and face a three-way fight with Everton and Leeds in the last weeks of the season. Leeds look almost safe on 33 points but Burnley do have a games in-hand over the Whites and could reel them, or Everton who sit just three points above Burnley, albeit having played a game fewer.
