'Take the blame' - Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth's admission after Bolton Wanderers loss

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth admitted he would take the blame for setting his team up differently in the loss to Bolton Wanderers as he felt the Whites took their chances well.

The Whites began the season last weekend with a point on the road against Ipswich Town. This afternoon the Chairboys were the visitors for the first home game of the campaign.

They took the lead in the first half when Kyle Dempsey finished to give the Whites the advantage following good work from Liverpool loanee Conor Bradley. They doubled their lead just before thee break when Aaron Morley slotted home from Dapo Afolayan's pass.

Dempsey added his second after the break as Wanderers ran out worthy winners. It leaves Wanderers third in the League One table after two matches so far.

Wycombe lost their first game in League One in 14 outings and the victory is the first time Bolton have taken three points from Ainsworth's side. Bolton had lost the previous four meetings between the teams.

Ainsworth took responsibility for setting his team up differently to the previous week in the 3-0 victory over Burton Albion but felt his side still created some good opportunties in the clash. But the Wycombe boss complimented Wanderers on their performance and the chances they created and took.

Ainsworth said: “I’ll take the blame for that. I set them up tactically in the first half a different way. I actually thought we created some good chances first half and if we stick them in it’s an even game.
