Sydney van Hooijdonk reveals Celtic transfer truth as Hoops ‘fan’ takes brutal swipe at Scottish Premiership standard

Sydney van Hooijdonk has revealed the "TRUTH" over his Celtic links as he hammered the standard of Scottish football.

Brendan Rodgers was linked with a move for the striker as he hunted to add to his firepower. But the Norwich City loanee has admitted NO talks took place with the Scottish champions this winter but claimed there was contact last summer. His arrival at the Canaries allowed for Adam Idah to move north of the border and he has hit the ground running and played a major role in the comeback win over Motherwell with two strikes before adding a further goal to his tally in the thumping win over Dundee on Wednesday night.

Van Hooijdonk – son of former Celtic star Pierre – has admitted to being a Hoops fan despite his views on the Scottish game. Speaking to Pink Un, he said: "To be honest, I didn't speak with Celtic this winter.

"You see a lot of things, but this winter, I didn't speak with them. Yes, last summer, there was a bit. It is a lovely club, and I am a fan of them as well, but the Championship and a team that is fighting for the play-offs was really nice. This league is at a higher level than that league, so I'm really happy to be here."
