Suspect named after police called to alleged stabbing in Aldi car park

A teenager has been charged following an alleged stabbing in the car park of an Aldi store in Tameside.

Police responded to the incident on Dean Street in Ashton-under-Lyne on Saturday, February 10. An 18-year-old male was taken to hospital after the reported stabbing.

Police arrested a 19-year-old male on suspicion of violent disorder. In an update issued this morning (February 13), a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said a teenager has since been charged in connection with the incident.

Wilson Defreitus, of Curzon Road, Ashton-Under-Lyne, has been charged on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of a bladed article. The 19-year-old has been remanded into custody.

He appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court yesterday, police added. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "On Saturday 10 February 2024, a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder following an incident on Dean Street in Ashton-Under-Lyne on Wednesday 7 February 2024.

"Wilson Defreitus (27/07/2004) of Curzon Road, Ashton-Under-Lyne has been charged and remanded for violent disorder and possession of a bladed article. He appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Monday 12 January 2024."
