Susanna Reid admits having the 'blues' as she makes unexpected early return to Good Morning Britain

Susanna Reid said she had the 'blues' as she made an unexpected early return to Good Morning Britain. The presenter had finished her stint on the ITV news programme on Wednesday (February 21) but ahead of her planned return next week, she was back on Friday (February 23) to say goodbye to Ben Shephard.

The presenter announced last week that he was leaving GMB as he'd landed the new main host gig on This Morning. He is now the new co-host of the ITV daytime show alongside Cat Deeley and the pair will replace previous main hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby following their sudden exits within months of each other last year.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Susanna posted ahead of Ben's last show: "BYE BEN! We’ve all got the blues this morning saying goodbye to the best in the business @benshephard."

She shared a decade-old photo of herself and Ben before the launch of GMB at West Ham United’s former stadium, Upton Park. The 53-year-old wrote: "This is us 10 years ago just before the launch of @gmb – of course he took me to Upton Park to bond over football! We’re going to miss you – good luck through the wall @thismorning."

Later, Susanna appeared on the programme for the last half an hour of Ben's last show when Kate Garraway took over to pay tribute to her co-host and friend of more than 20 years as he headed off to partures new.

She was joined by Susanna and Sean Fletcher, who popped in on their days off, as well as Richard Arnold, Charlotte Hawkins, Andi Peters, Dr Amir Khan and Alex Beresford who were all on hand to wish Ben well in his new job.
