Supercomputer pinpoints exact Celtic points total this season as number crunching predicts Rangers left in their dust

A Supercomputer has predicted a familiar end to the Premiership title race as Brendan Rodgers is tipped to guide Celtic towards glory again.

Still undefeated in the league, the Hoops have capitalised on a slow start to the season at Rangers under Michael Beale to sit five points clear at the summit. Philippe Clement has come in at Ibrox to try and turn the tide but while he keeps winning, he needs his rivals to slip up if he is to make any advances in the title race.

The rest of the division is cluttered, with St Mirren comfortably the best of the rest so far, and Aberdeen, Hearts plus Hibs all suffering inconsistent starts to the season. Data from BettingExpert's Supercomputer has simulated the season 100,000 times. It takes into account all match results from last term, pre-season games, the current term as it progresses, projecting this term based on xG earned both for and against during the season on top of pre-season expectations.

Celtic are tipped to run out as winners on 91.7 points, with Rangers trailing behind on 84.8 points. Hearts are expected to rise into third but some way behind the top two on 57.2 points.

Kilmarnock, Hibs and St Mirren are expected to make up the rest of the top six. And that means it could be a grim league season for Aberdeen, who are placed in seventh.

Motherwell and Dundee make it into mid-table obscurity territory while a close battle at the bottom ensues. And it's St Johnstone who are favoured to go down in 12th, with Livingston facing a relegation play-off while Malky Mackay guides Ross County to safety.
