Sunny paradise with ‘Europe’s best beach’ is a direct flight from Manchester Airport

A good beach holiday is hard to beat. Relaxing on a sun lounger, cocktail in hand, the sound of the waves lapping against the shore - paradise.

Although hundreds of amazing beaches are just a flight away from the UK, it can be a challenge finding the perfect one. But now the best beach in Europe has been named, and it’s a direct flight from Manchester Airport.

Nissi beach, in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, has been ranked number one in the 2024 European Beach Index. Created by travel insurance experts at Quotezone.co.uk, the list ranks beaches based on factors such as the sea and air temperature, 5-star reviews, average daily costs and the height of the waves.

With golden sand, sparkling turquoise waves and warm bathing water, it’s not hard to see why it bagged the top spot. It’s earned thousands of five-star reviews on Tripadvisor too, with visitors praising the beach - which has been awarded a blue flag - for its clean waters and gorgeous views.

Nicole B, from Liverpool, said: “Absolutely stunning beach. Nissi beach is the nicest beach I’ve ever experienced in my life, it is absolutely stunning, it’s clean, perfect and beautiful.”

Another reviewer, Reza, wrote: “A slice of paradise in Cyprus. If you're seeking a picturesque escape in Cyprus, Nissi Beach is a must-visit.”

Cyprus is an excellent spot for an autumn holiday and perfect if you’re after some later summer sun. It can experience highs of up to 30C in September and in the mid 20s in October, so it still offers much-needed warmth.
