Stuart Armstrong to Vancouver Whitecaps transfer is on as Scotland star set for Ryan Gauld reunion

Stuart Armstrong is close to securing a move to MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps.

The Scotland midfielder has been a free agent since leaving Southampton in the summer. But Record Sport understands the 32-year-old is in the verge of signing a deal with the Canadian club, where he would team up with former Dundee United team-mate Ryan Gauld. Armstrong has been weighing up his options after his contract expired at St Mary’s.

The former Celtic ace had offers from England and abroad but is keen on a switch to the MLS. Armstrong - who has 51 caps for Scotland - played alongside Gauld a decade ago at Tannadice and he’s now Vancouver skipper.
