Top agent from group representing Scotland and ex Rangers stars banned by FA after betting probe

A leading Scottish agent Alan Houldsworth has been banned for three months after being found guilty of placing more than 1,800 football bets.

The Football Association have hit the player representative with a ban from operating until December 10 and a £2,500 fine. Houldsworth landed the FA misconduct charge after he was alleged to have put on 1,803 bets on football matches between March 18 2018 and March 25 this year. Houldsworth is an agent with Truento Sports, who have the likes of Scotland stars Kenny McLean, Ryan Jack and Johnny Russell. Truento also represent ex-Rangers player Scott Wright, Australian international Jason Cummings along with Dundee pair Jordan McGhee and Scott Tiffoney and Dundee United defender Ross Graham.

The charge was first issued in March and Houldworth found out the extent of his punishment at an FA hearing last week. It is a major blow for Houldsworth who is unable to do any agency work or preparations for the January window until after December. The FA have since published the charge and punishment on their website.
