Striker Dayle Robertson on the "great opportunity" as Jeanfield journey north to Wick Academy in Scottish Cup

Dayle Robertson has scored plenty of goals at different levels of the footballing pyramid.

He has even found the back of the net for the Scotland national futsal team.

But on Saturday afternoon he is determined to tick off another milestone moment in his career by scoring in the Scottish Cup.

The Jeanfield Swifts striker, who previously played for Arbroath, has his sights set on advancing into the second round of the famous competition.

In order to do that, Swifts need to make the long trip north and dispatch Highland League side Wick Academy.

“I haven’t played in the Scottish Cup, other than last year against Brechin when I was carrying an injury and played the last 20 minutes,” Robertson explained.

“So personally I’m really looking forward to it. It would be great to get a goal. I’ve never scored in the Scottish Cup so it’s definitely one I’ll be looking to add to.”

Swifts, who sit second in the East of Scotland League’s Premier Division, previously reached the second round of the Scottish Cup in 2021 before being edged out by Annan Athletic.

They face a Wick Academy outfit currently 14th in the Highland League with just one win from their opening six matches.

“Everyone is looking forward to it,” Robertson added. “It’s a big weekend for the club.

“We’ve picked up again after a few games where we weren’t at it. We’ve scored 10 goals in the last two games and should be confident going into this game.

“It’s a great opportunity for us and I’d back us against anyone.

“We create chances and going forward we’re a real threat that will cause problems for anyone.

“But it won’t be easy. It’s a lot of travelling and we know that they will be right up for it.
