Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden makes poignant nod to battle at NTAs as she stuns after cancer update

Amy Dowden made a poignant nod to her cancer fight as she made a surprise appearance at the National Television Awards. The Strictly Come Dancing star joined her fellow dancers and a number of the 2022 series' celebrity contestants at the star-studded bash on Tuesday night (September 5).

It came hours after Amy shared an update on her cancer journey following her third round of chemotherapy last week. The dancer has been sharing regular updates social media after being diagnosed with breast cancer. On Tuesday morning she said in a video to her Instagram Story: "I just wanted to fully recover after chemo on Thursday and I'm definitely getting there.

"I had a little bit of sickness on Thursday, Friday, tiredness but you can't sleep because of the steroids. I've got my steroid moon face, which I'm used to anyway by now. I'm definitely feeling more like Amy today. Mouth covered in mouth ulcers and quite swollen and I'm still losing the hair still."

She went on to share: "You can't sleep because of the steroid but I'm so tired. Those are some of the symptoms I've got." However, Amy remained positive as she said: "I've not ended up in hospital so far after this admission so that's a win-win! I was told by my fellow pink sisters that usually after the third EC, the chemo you have, is when you start to lose your eyelashes and eyebrows and so far, I've still got them.

"Obviously I could still lose them and I've still got another EC to go before then I go onto a different type of chemo. But the sun is shining, I've got my twin sister with me, and a lovely day planned. You've just got to make the most of the good days, haven't you?"
