Stirling Albion hoping to heat up league form after Accies TV clash frozen out by weather

Stirling Albion’s big night under the TV lights was kyboshed by the big freeze – but Binos boss Darren Young insists his troops won’t be caught cold as they kick off the third quarter of their season.

The Binos were set to host second-placed Hamilton Accies under the glare of the BBC Alba cameras, eager to put their Falkirk thumping behind them in front of an expectant Forthbank crowd.

But freezing overnight temperatures put the evening kick-off in doubt and an afternoon inspection confirmed the bad news, with the match now rescheduled for January 20 due to both sides being out of the Scottish Cup.

Stirling gaffer Young admits it was a blow for his side not to be able to get out to make instant amends for their 5-0 defeat to the Bairns last time out, but is hoping to welcome some fresh faces – both existing and new – for the trip to Montrose on Saturday.

Young said: “We would have preferred the game to be on because we were looking for a wee reaction and the boys had trained well but it is what it is and we have to deal with it and move on to Montrose now.

“It gives us another week of trying to get guys like Ross Davidson and Jack Leitch closer to fitness and we’re also hoping to strengthen the squad – we will hopefully have a few in before the weekend on that front.”

The match at Links Park represents the exact halfway point in the League One campaign for the Binos, with an excellent first quarter of games followed up with a ropey second round of fixtures where they picked up only five points.

But Young believes there are clear positives to be taken from performances in several of the games – and emphasised the importance of fine details in hampering his side’s points tally.
